Technical Considerations for designing an Pure System Inline Heater

  • Flow Rates: Determine the required volume flow rate for your process, as it impacts the power needed for the heater (Q).
  • Temperature Rise: Define the maximum temperature change required for your application, indicated by the delta T (ΔT) value, e.g., a temperature rise of 100 from 60° to 160°. 
  • Pressure: Standard Infinity heaters operate up to a maximum pressure of 150 psi. However, we can design products for elevated. 
  • Inlet and Outlet Ports: Specify the desired process connections for your application. Infinity accommodates specialized designs such as sanitary, compression, VCR.
  • Temperature Considerations: Most Infinity heaters are suitable for temperatures up to approximately 1000°F.  
  • Materials of Construction: Infinity’s standard product line features stainless steel construction, with 316L heater elements and 304L housing bodies.  
  • Power and Temperature Controls: Infinity heaters are available as standalone units or with control loops. Our control loops are typically housed in isolated enclosures, allowing convenient mounting of the heater in the process area. 
  • Outdoor/Exterior Duty/NEMA 4X: If you require a heater for wash-down areas or outdoor service, simply inform our sales engineer, and we can design our products to meet your specific requirements.
  • Explosion-Proof/Classified Areas: Infinity can design most heaters to operate within classified areas, such as Class 1 Div 1-2 or ATEX zones. Please provide the classification details, and we will design a component accordingly.
  • Sensors: All Infinity heaters come with a control thermocouple (typically type K) for monitoring the fluid or media temperature within the heater housing, not the temperature of the heating element.
